Officers from the North Castle Police Department received a report from a Custis Avenue resident shortly before 5:45 a.m. on Thursday, June 21, stating that a potentially homeless man was sleeping under a picnic table in the yard.
When awoken by the resident’s daughter, police said that the man fled the property on foot. Police described the man as being a 5-foot-9 middle-aged African-American who was wearing a tracksuit when he fled the homeowner’s property.
Upon arrival at the scene, police said that the man was already gone, and a canvas of the area came up negative. No property appears to have been damaged or has been reported missing, investigators noted. Officers proceeded to monitor the area throughout the day, but the man never resurfaced. The incident remains under investigation.
